Lesson 7: How to turn
unwanted features off
After you've experimented with your new
website for a while, you'll probably have a list of tools that you are not
planning on using at the moment. Rather than having those sections sitting empty
on your students' webpages, you can actually simply turn them off, and they
won't appear in the first place.
So if you are excited about being able to send stickers and newsletters, but
would rather handle practice instructions the old fashioned way with a notebook,
then simply turn the practice instructions tool off.
You can change your mind at any time about
which features are on or off, allowing you to customize your entire website to
suit how you teach. It's also possible to turn features on or off for individual
students - allowing you, for example, to turn off Stickerbooks for adult
students.
Step 1: Go to your feature manager
Your Feature Manager is a special
section that allows you to turn individual features on or off. To go there,
scroll down your homepage until you see the heading "Homepage Admin" (should
be bottom right of your screen):

and look for the subheading that says
"Feature Manager".

Click on the picture of the checkbox, and you will be taken straight to your
feature manager
Step 2: Turning features on and off
Your Feature Manager will show two
lists side-by-side. The list on the left is the list of features that are
currently turn on for your website, while the list on the right is
the list of features that is turned off:

To switch a feature from one list to
the other, simply click on it. The page will reload, and the feature will
have swapped to the other list. So to turn off the "StickerBook" in the
screenshot above, you would simply click on the "StickerBook" link - once
the screen reloads, you would see the following:

The StickerBook feature will now be
gone from your website. To turn it back on again, simply click on it again,
and it will switch back to the "enabled" list. It's that easy.
Step 3: Turning features on and off for
an individual student
While your feature manager allows you
to easily turn features on or off for the entire studio, if you want to turn
a feature on or off for an individual student, there's a way to do that too.
First of all, select the student's
name from the dropdown menu at the top right of your homepage. This will
take you to the student's Student Summary page.
Scroll down until you see the "PracticePage
Settings" heading:

Under that will be a sub heading that
says "Feature Manager for (STUDENT NAME)". You will see lists of enabled and
disabled features just as you saw in Step 2 of this tutorial, but this time,
any changes you make will only affect the website of that individual
student:

Please note though that as soon as you
make another studiowide change (as in tutorial step 2) to which features are
turned on or off, that will overwrite individual settings. (In other words,
the most recent changes will always apply).
